How can community products connect local livelihoods, wildlife conservation, and a shared sense of place?

The Sichuan golden snub-nosed monkey is present in the community not only as a protected species, but also through forest management, ranger work, local narratives, and the public identity of the region.

Conservation appeared as a form of everyday community work, sustained through observation, maintenance, communication, and long-term familiarity with the forest.

Outcome

This project considers how a protected species becomes part of community identity through everyday conservation work, local storytelling, and public-facing products. The packaging provides one accessible way for these relationships to travel beyond the field site and enter ordinary encounters.

Designing for conservation therefore also means designing how communities represent, share, and sustain their relationships with the species and landscapes around them.
